iPhone 5 Housing – Another Fake?

iPhone 5Is this the iPhone 5 rear cover, or just another ‘accidentally’ leaked diversion, courtesy of Apple? It certainly looks like it could be the real thing, but I’m not so sure.

  1. The case is approximately 4 inches long, meaning the new iPhone 5 will be 0.5 inches longer than the current model iPhone.
  2. The case appears to the same width and the same square edge design as the iPhone 4, and I think we are all expecting the iPhone 5 to be a major release with a new design. I’m certainly expecting it to be slimmer, if nothing else.
  3. The SIM slot is very small, even smaller than the current micro-SIM slot – so unless Apple are expecting no users to upgrade on their current contracts, I’m not sure how we are supposed to get our SIM cards in. Of course this may allow for a SIM to be pushed straight in without the need for a caddy. Which would be good.
  4. The 30 pin connector has been replaced with a 9 pin. This would mean every accessory ever made would be incompatible with the iPhone 5, and for those of us with built in iPhone connectivity in or homes, would be a very good reason not to buy an iPhone 5.

I would be willing to put money on the iPhone 5 not resembling anything like this, but check it out yourselves and see what you think.
